Lewis Hamilton feels optimistic about championship fight ahead of Singapore GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is feeling optimistic about his chances of winning the 2012 Formula 1 Championship and is confidently looking forward to reduce the gap to Fernando Alonso of Ferrari in the Singapore Grand Prix.
Hamilton said that after winning the Hungarian and Italian grands prix he is positively heading towards the next race which is going to be held at Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore on September 23, 2012. Moreover, he said that he is targeting to close
the gap to the Spaniard, Alonso who is currently leading the drivers’ rankings with 179 points and has a strong lead over the British driver.
In addition, he said that he really enjoy racing at the track of the approaching race. He also said that the upcoming race is going to be very challenging because of the warm temperature and the dampness.
“After winning in Hungary and Monza, I head to Singapore full of positivity and optimism that we can take the title fight to Fernando [Alonso],” said Hamilton. “I enjoy the Marina Bay circuit in the same way that I like racing at the Hungaroring - it's a
darty track that requires you to really be on top of the car to get the best from it. It requires more finesse, though: most of the braking zones are approached at very high speed, and the walls are never far away. Factor in the heat and humidity and it's
a very challenging weekend.”
Furthermore, he said that they are getting closer to the ending of the ongoing season where every contender will be pushing harder to gain points so as to secure a competitive position in this year’s championship.
Besides, he admired the overall performance of his team in the season until now and said that they have got the most competent car in the field. Additionally, he said that they are surely in a position to win the championship battle and they are aiming to
fight for it in the remaining races of the season.
Let’s see how the 2008 world champion comes up in the Singapore GP.
