McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is feeling quite numb over his retirement in the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix held at Interlagos which was his last race with the Woking based team.
Hamilton performed tremendously well in the qualifying of the season finale in Brazil. Although, he was dropped behind his teammate, Jenson Button and Nico Hulkenberg of Force India in the start of the race, nevertheless, he regained his lead afterwards.
However, he could not be able to keep his lead and had to face an unfortunate retirement after his collision with Hulkenberg.
It will be important to mention that the British driver has related his current sentiments with the 2007 Brazilian GP, in which he lost the championship title.
Besides, he said that even though he would have loved to win his final race with McLaren. Nonetheless, he expressed that he will always remember the time which he has spent in the British squad.
Additionally, he said that he is excitingly looking forward to perform well with Mercedes in the next season and is hoping to take the Brackley based team to new heights in the future.
“I feel a little bit like in 2007; quite numb,” Hamilton said. “It's quite mixed emotions at the moment; I feel sad that we were leading and we didn't get to see through the race - I love to always see the end of the race - and obviously because I'm leaving. But I'm excited also for the future, so I'm looking forward to just having a new start next year and hopefully eventually at some stage I'll have a little bit of luck going my way.”
In addition, he congratulated Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who claimed his third consecutive title. Moreover, he also admired the performance of his compatriot, Button who secured an impressive victory in the last race.
Though, there are a lot of rumours that the 2008 world champion may struggle with the Silver Arrows in the coming year. However, his hopes are high and it will be interesting to see how he performs along with his new teammate, Nico Rosberg in the next season.
