Lewis Hamilton focussing to perform well in 2012 British Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is focussing to perform well in 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit on July 8.
Hamilton showed an impressive pace in the qualifying of the European GP at Valencia Street Circuit in Spain and secured the second grid position. However, he had a collision with Pastor Maldonado of Williams during the race and could not score even a single
point as he came 19th.
Nevertheless, the 2008 world champion has said that he is not feeling upset over the incident in Valencia and is targeting to deliver his best in the race ahead.
“Sometimes you have to accept when things don't go your way in racing. Obviously it was frustrating to lose out so close to finish, but that's motor racing: you put it behind you and move on to next race which, happily for me, is at my home circuit of Silverstone,”
he said.
In addition, he expressed his association with the forthcoming race and said that it is very much special for him because of his home circuit and fans.
“The British Grand Prix is special because I get a massive boost from all fans. To me, winning at Silverstone is right up there with winning at Monaco. Standing on the top step of the podium in 2008 was among the sweetest moments of my career,” he said.
The Briton has been one of the most consistent drivers in the season so far as he secured incredible third podium finishes in the first three grands prix. Moreover, he took an amazing victory in the Canadian GP at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.
He is presently at third place in the drivers’ championship with 88 points between Red Bull Racing drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.
Meanwhile, his teammate, Jenson Button is standing at 8th place in the drivers’ ranking with 49 points. Besides, he is ahead of Sergio Perez of Sauber and behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
Over and above, it will be very interesting to see how the season progresses for the world champion drivers of the Woking based team.
