Lewis Hamilton has one of the best qualifying sessions at 2012 Bahrain GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that the qualifying sessions at 2012 Bahrain Grand Prix held on Saturday in Sakhir was one of his best in the season so far, regardless of missing the pole position.
The British driver secured second position in the grid for the fourth race with his best lap time of 1 minute and 32.520 seconds after following the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who claimed his first pole in this season.
It will be important to mention that Hamilton has secured the pole positions in the opening two races of the season held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. However, he started from seventh grid position in
the third GP at Shanghai International Circuit in China as he faced five-place grid penalty.
Nevertheless, the Briton said that he is very much pleased with his performance in the qualifying and said that he is looking forward to perform well in race.
“Generally it was probably one of my best qualifying sessions even though in the past we went on pole position after the first lap [in Q3],” he said. “The first lap was great and the second lap was great. I'm quite happy with that and we just need to keep
on pushing.”
He also expressed his happiness for all the efforts that the team has made in the season until now while he said that he was eying up to enhance the setup of the car during this weekend.
“I'm very happy with the job that we've done,” he added. “I was just trying to improve the set-up throughout the weekend and then in FP3 it wasn't the most spectacular, but a little bit closer in Q1 and thank goodness we got through.”
Hamilton also said that he is aiming to score reasonable points in the each and every race throughout the season and to perform with consistency.
Besides, it will be notable that he is ready to make the necessary sacrifice in his personal life to give the due attention to his Formula 1 career.
