Lewis Hamilton hopes for a strong race in Abu Dhabi – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is looking forward to perform well in the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix which is going to be held at Yas Marina Circuit this weekend.
Hamilton could not attain desired result in the Indian GP because of his uncompetitive start. Although, he performed quite convincingly in the qualifying and managed to secure third grid slot, but he failed to improve his position during the race and came
4th in the charts ahead of his teammate, Jenson Button who also struggled with his soft tyres in the beginning.
Nonetheless, he has asserted that he is not feeling upset over his result in the preceding race and is positively aiming to strike back in the remaining three grands prix of the ongoing season.
Furthermore, he said that he really likes the track of the approaching race which has different kinds of corners that makes it incredibly interesting.
“It's a track where you can really push the car, which is what I most enjoy,” Hamilton said. “There are a wide variety of corners - I love the fast sweeps in the first sector - and it's incredibly satisfying to hook together a good sector through the tricky
marina section of the lap.”
Besides, he said that he spend some great time in India and really enjoyed the race. Even though, he seemed a little bit concerned about his 4th place finish, nevertheless, he stated that he is confidently targeting to fight back in the race ahead.
“I really enjoyed that race in India - fourth place may have been little reward for 60 laps of flat-out effort, but I couldn't have gone any faster. I feel confident that we can pull together a strong race weekend in Abu Dhabi,” he added.
The 2008 world champion has performed amazingly well in the season so far and stands amongst one of the most consistent point scorers. At present, he is standing at 5th place in the drivers’ championship with 165 points and is just 2 points behind
his main rival, Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing.
It will be thrilling to see how he performs in the forthcoming races.
