Lewis Hamilton hopes to fight back in 2012 German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton says that he is hoping to fight back in the 2012 German Grand Prix with the updates in MP4-27 despite facing issues in the last two races.
Hamilton struggled during the British GP with the problem of limited downforce and could only score 4 points with his 8th place finish. Moreover, he could not pocket even a single point in the European GP as he had a clash with Pastor Maldonado
of Williams.
Nevertheless, he expressed that he is not disappointed over his uncompetitive results in the preceding two grands prix and is aiming to bounce back in the forthcoming races so as to fight for the championship title.
In addition, he said that although they have been quite under pressure, however, they are trying their best to improve the pace of their car and have planned to come up with some essential updates to attain better results in the upcoming race.
“I feel less concerned today simply because the team have been under a great amount of pressure to bring upgrades and we have been under a lot of pressure to get the results,” Hamilton said. “But regardless, the guys have been not giving up and they keep
pushing and we've hopefully got some upgrades this weekend that will - I hope - put us back in the fight.”
Furthermore, he said that the competition is very tight in the current season and they need to push harder to make the considerable developments to reduce the gap to the teams in the front.
“There's still a long, long way to go, and with the way the championship has gone so far anything can happen still, there's so much to play for still,” he said.
Presently, the 2008 world champion is standing at fourth position in the drivers’ rankings with 92 points and is 8 points behind the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Over and above, he is undeniably one of the strongest contenders in this year’s championship battle and it will be interesting to see how he shows up in the races ahead.
