Lewis Hamilton hopes to see his father at British GP 2010
Formula One’s current chart topper Lewis Hamilton is looking forward to get everything straight in his personal life. For the upcoming British Grand Prix 2010, he has invited his father to the track to watch him race. During the 2010 season, Anthony Hamilton has not visited the tracks to see his son in any race till date.
The Formula One caravan is to move to its next destination which will be the tenth race of the year at the Silverstone Circuit in England on this weekend. The British driver, who is already topping the Drivers’ Championship with a total of one hundred and twenty seven points, hopes to provide a great racing spectacle to his home crowd in Britain. The excited driver has invited his father to the race along with the Hamilton family. The father-son relation went through a tumultuous time since the beginning of the 2010 season as Lewis announced that he would want to run the season independently. Hamilton Senior was serving as his manager and the wishy-washy relationship had spoilt their professional association. Anthony had been present at each of his son’s races since Hamilton’s’ Karting days and at every step of his career.
At the start of the 2010 season, it was announced that the two had mutually agreed that Anthony wanted to pursue his business interests whereas Hamilton wanted to have more space and time to grow. However, in reality, it was evident that the air between the two was not very pleasant any more. After resigning as Hamilton’s manager, Anthony was absent in many of his races in 2010. Hamilton cleared the air by saying that the two were having a good relationship and that he received good luck messages from his father every time he went to the tracks.
The 25-year-old racer did accept that the relationship had gone sour but he hoped that his father would be able to understand his decision and their relation would improve in the days to come. So far, Hamilton Senior has still not confirmed whether he is coming to watch his son race in Britain. However, Lewis seems quite enthusiastic and optimistic about the event. Lewis Hamilton has requested Anthony to view the race from the grandstand or the paddock. Lewis explains that the race could still be a good experience for his father if he watched it from the grandstand as his father has always watched him from the paddock.
Despite the fact that no confirmation has come from his father’s side, Lewis is still hopeful to see his family and friends at the grandstand for this very important race. Not only because it is in his homeland but because he is at the top of Drivers’ standings and needs to safeguard his place as well. Hamilton’s teammate Jenson Button, who stands at second place with a difference of only six points and is also a British racer, is expected to give him some tough competition in the British GP. Both of them would get equal support from the home crowd.
The McLaren team is happy and hopeful as it is expecting that one of the two would definitely win the race. This season has seen both drivers ending with a 1-2 finish on a number of occasions. In the past three races, Button has followed Hamilton’s tail as the later finished on pole position on two different occasions and came in second on one occasion.
Hamilton is very hopeful as he is in great form and his confidence is sky high. He says that he wants Button to perform in the British GP but in the end, the victory should come to him. With his father present at the race, ready to give a good luck handshake, just like the old times, Hamilton is looking forward for having a great weekend ahead.
