Lewis Hamilton hoping for consistency by McLaren at the Hungaroring – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has recently stated that he wants the form to continue throughout the rest of the weekend at the 2011 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
The race is taking place at the Hungaroring circuit and since Hamilton secured his 2nd race victory of the season this past weekend at the Nurburgring during the German Grand Prix, he is now hoping for consistency and for a continuation of his
current form.
“It's a great feeling to start the weekend on a high. We had a much smoother Friday here than we did at the Nurburgring, so I'm pretty happy. The car looks reasonably competitive, given the balance and the fuel load that we had,” he said.
The former world champion added that the team is not overly optimistic after these results as they should still keep working on the car to improve their performance and hopefully score their second race victory in a row.
“The guys have been pushing very, very hard back at the factory. We've got a couple of upgrades here this weekend and it's a great achievement by everyone to have got them here in such a short space of time,” said Hamilton.
The McLaren driver topped both of the Friday free practice sessions of the Hungarian Grand Prix which proves that the MP4-26 has the pace to score good qualifying results as well.
This weekend’s qualifying session is going to be very competitive since Red Bull Racing team is still undefeated at qualifying but this weekend, Ferrari and McLaren are looking much faster than them as a result of which, the pole position is anyone’s game.
With McLaren and Ferrari’s consistent race pace, RBR’s chances of winning the race without scoring a pole position this weekend are quite low and now it seems that this weekend might reflect what the rest of the season has in store for us in terms of each
team’s respective reliability.
The remainder of the season is all about reliability and if RBR fail to score consistent results, their chances of winning the drivers’ title might be dented massively.
