Lewis Hamilton hoping of scoring some really good points at 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said after securing the 2nd place on the grid for the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix that he is hoping of scoring some really good points.
“Today they (Red Bull Racing Team) seemed to pick up a little bit of pace, and to still be on the front row, for both me and Jenson I think it was a good job by us so I'm quite happy I think we can collect some really good points from here,” he said.
The 2008 world champion secured his second race win of the 2011 Formula 1 season at the German Grand Prix this past weekend after which he now believes that he still has a pretty good shot at the drivers’ title this year.
Hamilton was the quickest driver throughout the Friday practice sessions but it seems that Red Bull Racing team improved its performance after using their first overtime of the season and secured its pole position scoring streak of the season as they are
still undefeated at qualifying.
However, the McLaren driver claims that he is not disappointed with these results as both of the team’s drivers are going to start from the front two rows which means that McLaren are overall quite competitive at the Hungaroring.
“At one stage during Q3 I was up: I had half a tenth in reserve. But then I went a little bit wide, which triggered a big oversteer moment, and the result was that I lost that crucial bit of time,” he said.
Hamilton is around 80 points short of the championship leader Sebastian Vettel but since Button is going to start the race alongside him, both of the McLaren drivers would be hoping of getting ahead of the reigning world champion in order to take the advantage
from the beginning.
Since Button is pretty much out of the drivers’ championship for this year, he would not mind helping his teammate out which might be McLaren’s plan for the race this Sunday for maximum gain.
