Lewis Hamilton identifies areas for improvement in McLaren – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has expressed that his team needs to make the essential improvements concerning the low-pace downforce of the car.
Moreover, he said that they must act more efficiently at the pit stops in order to maintain their position amongst the top contenders for the season ahead.
Hamilton had secured two consecutive poles in the first two races of the season held at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Despite the fact that the British driver could not be able to turn his pole positions into a victory in both the races, he had been successful in securing the third place finish.
Nevertheless, McLaren are still leading the constructors’ championship with a strong start of the season as Jenson Button won the first race and on the other hand Hamilton showing reasonably good performance.
Furthermore, after the Malaysian GP, Hamilton declared that he planned to support the team to overcome its weaknesses.
“In qualifying we are very quick but we need to be quicker in the race,” he was quoted by the Guardian. “Our low speed downforce needs to improve. If we make some improvements to the car and maybe our pit stops then we can do a little better. We will have
some upgrades I hope. I will go back and push the guys to see if we can get some upgrades to try and eke ahead of the guys particularly in the race.”
The 2008 world champion had struggled during the last season, particularly because he failed to keep the balance between his personal and private life.
Nonetheless, he had asserted that this year he was ready to make the required sacrifice in his private life in order to keep his utmost focus on his F1 career.
In addition, he said that he was looking forward to score in every race and to perform with consistency throughout the season.
Besides, he added that he had been feeling quite unfortunate in this year’s season as he was not been able to get the best results with his due efforts so far. However, he was confident that his time would change soon.
