Lewis Hamilton insists he is not worried about Mercedes recent struggles – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is not worried about the issues which Mercedes are facing right now and is feeling really excited about his move to the Silver Arrows in 2013.
Hamilton’s agreement with the British squad is going to expire at the conclusion of this season and he signed a new deal with the Brackley based team after the Singapore Grand Prix for the next year.
Moreover, he is going to replace Michael Schumacher who has decided to take retirement from the sport at the end of this year.
It will be interesting to note that despite having a successful pre-season testing programme this year, Mercedes have struggled with some reliability issues and poor tyre management in the season so far. However, the British driver has said that he is not
concerned about their recent form and is very much pleased with his decision.
Furthermore, he said that he is focussing to deliver his best in the remaining three grands prix of the ongoing season so as to secure a good position in this year’s championship fight.
Besides, he said that they still have a chance to win the constructors’ title, therefore, he is going to push harder and will try to take the most out of their update package in the forthcoming races to attain competitive results.
“It doesn't. I'm very happy with the decision I've made and it doesn't have an impact on that. People do sometimes lose their way and even we have struggled in the past. I've not really focused on them to see what problems they've had, be it crashing or
whatever,” Hamilton said. “I've been focused on trying to win the constructors' championship for this team and trying to get the maximum points. It is theoretically still possible for us to win the constructors' championship so I'm still all guns blazing.”
Additionally, he said that he has taken quite a big decision to leave the Woking based team. Nonetheless, he expressed that he is eagerly waiting to work in a different environment and is very much excited about the new challenge.
“I already knew how big it was,” he added.
