Lewis Hamilton is feeling optimistic about the season ahead – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is feeling optimistic about the 2012 Formula 1 season ahead despite facing difficulties in the last two grands prix.
Hamilton has only been able to score four points in the previous two races as he struggled with the lack of pace due to some issues in the car’s aerodynamics and the tyre management. Nevertheless, he expressed that he is not upset with the uncompetitive
performances in the last couple of races and is aiming to perform well in the approaching season so as to make his position stronger in this year’s championship fight.
“I'm not that young any more so I want to make sure that whatever I do I make the right decision so I can maximize my career, you know,” the 27-year-old said. “I just need to make sure that I'm winning. We should have won a lot more races than we have, but
there are many more races to go. We still have a lot more chances to get some wins and I think it's possible.”
The British driver is presently standing at fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 92 points. Moreover, he is 9 points ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and 8 points behind the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Additionally, he has been one of the most consistent point scorers in the season so far as he secured third podium finish in the first three races and claimed pole positions in the first two of them.
Besides, he took an amazing victory in the Canadian GP held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal after taking a start from second grid position.
Meanwhile, the Woking based team is at 4th position in the constructors’ rankings with 142 points. Although, they have been seen struggling with some problems, however, they are trying their best to resolve the ongoing issues to bounce back in
the forthcoming races.
Over and above, the 2008 world champion has been deemed as one of the strongest contenders in the current season and it will be interesting to see how he comes up in the upcoming races.
