Lewis Hamilton looking forward to a memorable farewell – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton is looking forward to make his last race with the team a memorable event as he leaves to join Mercedes from the next season.
Hamilton has talked about some wonderful experiences from the Brazilian Grand Prix which will mark the end of this season.
“Brazil has been the scene of some epic races for me during my time at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes and, for many reasons, this weekend will be a very big race for me,” Hamilton said. “I nearly won the title here in 2007, clinched it on the final turn in '08
and drove like crazy to finish on the podium in '09. But I've never won: and that's what I'll be aiming to do this time around.”
Hamilton has confessed that he will try his best to bring forth a race to remember as he will drive the McLaren car one last time. He admitted that his race win at the United States GP in Austin last weekend was one of the greatest races he has ever had.
He said that if he wins at the Interlagos circuit as well, then it will definitely be the best gift he can give to his team before he leaves.
Regarding the championship rivalry of this season between Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, he said that both drivers were brilliant in their own way. He admitted that both of them have worked hard throughout the season to reach
this point and neither of them can afford to relax now as the championship fight has come head to head. He said that he expects the battle to be an epic one.
Hamilton had been very excited to drive over the new Circuit of the Americas for the United States GP and had expressed his wish to become the first driver to win on it. His wish came true as he won by brilliantly overtaking Vettel. He had admitted earlier
that no matter what happens during the last race, he will be leaving the McLaren team with satisfaction after this win.
He will be replacing Michael Schumacher at Mercedes and hopes to bring many wins for them.
