Lewis Hamilton looking forward to win more than one title and remain in history books – Formula 1
McLaren driver and Formula 1 champion of 2008, Lewis Hamilton, has set some targets for himself by saying that he wants to win more than a couple of championships in his career.
He stated that he wants to be the best driver of his generation by clinching some more titles. He also clearly said that he is not thinking about leaving McLaren to live his dream.
Lewis Hamilton joined the McLaren team in 2007 as a Formula 1 rookie and was the runner-up in that season. In 2008, he became the youngest Formula 1 title winner at the age of 23. Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull took the youngest Formula 1 champion title from
him in 2010 when he did it at the age of 22.
Lewis Hamilton said in an interview that he wants to win more than just one or two titles so that he can remain in the history books.
He said, “I am not here to race 10 years and only win one or two world championships, I want to be one of the most successful F1 drivers of this generation.”
He also added that he only has been in the sport for four years so he has to do more to be remembered.
2011 is not looking his year as the team is well short of mileage and pace from some of the other competitor teams like Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes. Their 2011 pre-season testing was not the one to remember as they faced technical and mechanical problems
on almost all the 15 days. Their car, MP4-26, was recently marked as the least reliable car on the grid.
Hamilton has not have given up championship hopes as he said that McLaren were able to do quite well in the past years despite not having great testing sessions.
Talking about the McLaren team, Hamilton said, “They are an incredible team. I haven't been to other factories, but McLaren have some of the greatest people I have ever met in the team. They are fighters and I am a fighter.”
