McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton came out on top in the second practice session at the Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina circuit on Friday.
He finished marginally ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel while top title contender Fernando Alonso who dominated the session, finished at number 3.
Red Bull were all smiles as their second driver, Mark Webber finished at number 4, just a fraction of a second ahead of Renault’s Robert Kubica.
Hamilton is currently in the fifth place in the Drivers’ Championship with 222 points on a table dominated by Alonso with 246 points.
A victory on Sunday at the Yas Marina circuit might not be good enough for Hamilton. He needs a miracle to bag the championship for the second time in his career.
He can only win the title if Alonso cannot get any points from Sunday’s race and the Red Bulls finish below the top three. Unlikely, but statistically this is true.
While talking to the reporters on Thursday, Hamilton said, "I have nothing to lose. The guys in front of me have everything to lose, they have got generally faster cars than me but that doesn't mean that I cannot fight for a win."
Looking at Hamilton this Friday many of the analysts are predicting that he would be able to bag the last race of the season, if not the championship.
