Lewis Hamilton looking to go one step further in Monaco – Formula 1 update
Lewis Hamilton tried his best to beat Sebastian Vettel at the Spanish Grand Prix but the German held off Hamilton’s challenge and completed his fourth win in five races this season. Hamilton is now in second place on the driver standings and trails Vettel
by 41 points. There are still 16 races to go in the season and Hamilton believes that he has plenty of time to catch up to Vettel for the World Championship.
Hamilton is confident that he can go one step further in the next race at Monaco and beat Sebastian Vettel for the pole position. Hamilton produced one of his best performances at Barcelona but even his best efforts could not topple the new king of Formula
1. Hamilton is looking ahead to the next race and is confident that Monaco will be a much better outing for McLaren.
Lewis Hamilton said that he did not expect his car to be that quick in Spain, and even he was a bit surprised that McLaren cars were quicker in general compared to Red Bull apart from high speed corners.
Spain’s Barcelona circuit is very different to the Monaco Circuit, as Barcelona offers many long straights and a chance for the quicker cars to take advantage. Hamilton said that Monaco is a much tougher and testing circuit, and it will bring out the best
in every driver as it will not only be the ability of the car that will count but the manoeuvring ability of every driver that will matter.
He added, "It's positive going into Monaco, where the driver can make a difference."
The former youngest World Champion whose record was overtaken by Sebastian Vettel last season, believes that the new upgrades introduced this season will continue to have a major impact on the season. He added that even the narrow circuit at Monaco will
give the drivers chance to use KERS and DRS which will enable them to overtake on the streets of Monte Carlo.
He stated, "I think we'll see a different race from previous years, I think a combination of the drag-reduction system (DRS), [energy-boost system] Kers Hybrid and the tyres will really make the racing come alive, and I'd love to see some overtaking action
and some hard racing this year”.
McLaren did not have the best preparations coming into the new season, and in the pre-season testing sessions it was Ferrari who outpaced Red Bull. Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button were both not satisfied with their cars but since the season has begun, the
British team has surprised one and all. The fact that Ferrari has not been able to keep pace with Red Bull has acted as a positive for McLaren as they have one less team to worry about.  Monaco may throw up a surprise or two, but it is once again expected
to be a straight out battle between Hamilton and Vettel and Ferrari still look like they need some time to get to terms with the new upgrades and the tyre strategies.
