Lewis Hamilton looks ahead to the resumption of F1 season

The 2008 F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton is eager to once again push hard for the world title once the season resumes after the summer break.  The F1, 2010 season will resume with the Belgium Grand Prix next week.
Hamilton had been leading the driver standings after his 2 consecutive wins, earlier in the season but lost the lead to Red Bull’s Mark Webber in the final race before the break. Currently Hamilton is 4 points adrift from the top with 7 races in the season left.
Hamilton said that the whole team is looking forward to the new race, he said that the time off has given the team an opportunity to work on the car and they certainly have made some advancements.  The Brit said that he will be going flat out to win the race in Belgium and will leave nothing to chance.
Hamilton while reflecting back on the last 2 races said that, the changes in the car did not go according to plan. Still he feels comfortable with the car now and expects better things in the rest of the season.
Lewis Hamilton got on top of the leader board with back to back wins in Canada and Turkey. However things started to go wrong after that and he could not produce the same form in Valencia and the home Grand Prix of Silverstone.  The final Grand Prix before the break was the Hungarian one, and he did not even manage to finish the race due to a problem with the car’s transmission system failure.
With 7 more races to go in the season, Hamilton and Button both have a realistic chance of winning the world title. The 2 McLaren’s have been 3rd fastest behind Ferrari and Red Bull this season. Still that is a compliment to the team’s strategy and tactical brilliance.
Hamilton said that maybe the two week break in August is just what his team needed. He said that according to FIA rules the factories for all teams were also shut down for 2 weeks, so McLaren will come back revitalised.
Hamilton said that the team is very optimistic about the rest of the season and the last 7 races will see the team come out with a whole new strategy and game plan. He said that following the disappointing abrupt end in the Hungarian Grand Prix, the team engineers worked overtime to find out the cause of the car fault and have rectified the issues.
He said that the next circuit of Spa in Belgium is one of his favourite ones; he said that the sharp turns and long straights at Spa will help him and his team mate a great degree.

Hamilton went on to say that next 2 races would be crucial in getting the top spot back. He said that Spa and Monza (the next race) are both suited to McLaren and if he can get podium finished at both races he would definitely be back at the top.
Currently the top 5 drivers in the standings are separated by just 20 points. The 2010 season has been one of the most competitive ones.  With 7 more races left all top 5 Mark Webber, Sebastian Vettel, Jenson Button Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso are all in a good position to win the world title.
Hamilton’s team mate Jenson Button who is also the current world champion goes into the next race in 4th spot. He is currently trailing championship leader Mark Webber by 14 points. He said that he has no doubts that he would be able to make it 2 world championships in a row and said that the new point system this season means that places in the driver standings can change with every single race.
