Lewis Hamilton may regret his move to Mercedes – Formula 1
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton made an announcement after the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix that he is going to join Mercedes in 2013 as Michael Schumacher’s replacement who later confirmed to take retirement at the end of this season.
Hamilton seemed really excited about his new contract with the Brackley based team. He expressed that he is eager to take the fresh challenge and is confidently looking forward to deliver his best in his career ahead. Moreover, he praised the legacy of the
Silver Arrows and said that he will try his best to take the team to new heights in the future.
“It is now time for me to take on a fresh challenge and I am very excited to begin a new chapter racing for the MERCEDES AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team,” Hamilton said. “Mercedes-Benz has such an incredible heritage in motorsport, along with a passion for
winning which I share.”
In addition, he said that their aim is to win the championship titles for which they will be working at their best.
“Together, we can grow and rise to this new challenge. I believe that I can help steer the Silver Arrows to the top and achieve our joint ambitions of winning the world championships,” he added.
It will be important to note that after the British driver confirmed his move to Mercedes, Martin Whitmarsh, the team principal of McLaren said that they tried everything to keep their driver. Nonetheless, he said that they wish him all the best for the
future.
On the other hand, Ross Brawn, the team principal of Mercedes welcomed the 2008 world champion and said that he is one of the most talented drivers in the sport.
“I am delighted to welcome Lewis Hamilton to our team,” Brawn said.
There have been a lot of rumours that Hamilton’s move was money driven but Brawn clarified that they hadn’t offered the Briton any extra money as compared to the British team.
Though, the 27-year-old has decided to change his team in the coming year. However, it is to be noted that his current team is surely more competitive, as compared to where he has planned to move in the coming year, in almost every aspect which mainly includes
the car’s competency.
Nonetheless, it will be thrilling to see how he performs in the next season.
