Lewis Hamilton not feeling happy with the updates in MP4-27 – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is not feeling happy with the updates made to his car during the final free practice session at 2012 Chinese Grand Prix on Saturday.
Hamilton set the best time of 1 minute and 35.940 seconds in FP3 and stayed ahead of his teammate, Jenson Button by 0.123 seconds.
Even though, he seemed well settled in the car, however, the team principal of McLaren, Martin Whitmarsh said that the British driver is not pleased with the alteration made in the car. He also said that Hamilton wants to switch back to the setup which was
used on Friday.
“Actually Lewis wasn't happy with the changes made to his car so I think we'll be reverting to where we were yesterday but I think certainly Jenson will have been happier, a bit more balanced and a reasonable morning,” Whitmarsh told Sky Sports. “I think
he felt we went slightly the wrong way, but that's good to know. If he can still do that (be quickest) when we went the wrong way now we'll revert to yesterday's settings hopefully he'll be a bit quicker this afternoon.”
Moreover, he said that Hamilton will target the pole position in the qualifying regardless of five-place grid penalty.
“Once you've got a five-place hit it's a five-place hit unfortunately,” said Whitmarsh.
It will be important to mention that McLaren have planned to come up with slight updates in the car at Chinese GP while and they will launch some major upgrades in Spain.
Furthermore, Whitmarsh said that they have won 3 out of 4 last races at Shanghai and hope to perform well in the one ahead.
In addition, Hamilton has said that his aim is to score points in each and every race throughout the season and to perform with consistency.
Hamilton secured two pole positions in the opening two races of the season held at Albert Park in Melbourne in Australia and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Besides, the Briton has shown quite consistent performances in the season so far with his
third podium finish in both the races.
