Lewis Hamilton not happy with his Brazilian Grand Prix qualifiers performance – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton says that he has not performed the way he wanted to at the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifiers.
The McLaren driver took fourth place on the grid for the race on Sunday. Hamilton was only 0.2s behind Jenson Button while 0.562s off the pole leader Sebastian Vettel. He did however gave a little bit of a history lesson, when he explained that fourth is
a good number for him at the circuit, as he was fourth in 2008, and last year when he raced at Interlagos. Turning the fourth place into something substantial is what he is going to work on.
Hamilton although had a poor season, a fact he expressed as well, but has started to pick some rhythm as he finished as the leader at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The win has given him a sort of rejuvenation that was much required by the Brit. This was also
expressed by his Team Principal Martin Whitmarsh.
Whitmarsh before the Grand Prix weekend suggested that Hamilton is going to be a major force at Interlagos, as he is coming back into form, and the McLaren car has been updated considerably. That combination will allow for a very competitive race.
“I'm a little bit disappointing really,” he told BBC Sport. “We're still on the second row but of course we would have loved to have been quicker. My performance, I'm really not too happy with that because it wasn't quick enough. I was a couple
of tenths off Jenson so clearly I could have been a bit quicker, but the Red Bulls were just massively quick today.”
Even though the Brit was not happy with his performance in the qualifiers he still said that he enjoys driving at Interlagos and that it is quite a an inspirational circuit, the Brazilian fans are so passionate about the sport, especially their own Bruno
Senna.
“It definitely is a place where you are inspired, because this is Senna's home and the Brazilians are so passionate over here,” he added.
It will be interesting to see how the he performs on race day, as he will have to compete with fifteenth pole clincher of the season Sebastian Vettel, with Mark Webber at second and his team-mate Jenson Button at third and a much improved Nico Rosberg just
behind him among others to win the Brazilian Grand Prix.
