Lewis Hamilton not pleased with the balance of Mercedes – Formula 1 News
Lewis Hamilton has said that he is not enjoying the balance of his Mercedes car at the moment.
The British driver was unable to match team-mate Nico Rosberg during the practice sessions in Silverstone, especially in P2 where he was seven-tenths down. Therefore, he stated, “I'm not happy with the balance of the car. I can't
remember the last time I've felt so uncomfortable. I don't really know what it is but we'll work on it and we'll fix it. I'm not enjoying the car at the moment.”
He added, “When you can't hook up Becketts and Maggots (corners), the rest of the track doesn't feel so good. I've got to go back and work on the set-up. It's just some bottoming with the car which is making it feel a bit awkward.
But I'll do my best. Saturday is going to be a better day.”
Before Hamilton came to Mercedes, everyone was expecting him to be dominant over his new team-mate, but things have not turned out to be that way. In fact, Rosberg has appeared to be the dominant partner on a number of times.
Despite scoring lesser points that his partner, the German driver would be content with his form this year, as he succeeded in Monaco, bagging the second victory of both his own and Mercedes’ career.
On the other hand, Hamilton has finished on the podium thrice this year, but he would desperately want to win at least one race for his new team. Different Formula 1 pundits believed that the best chance for the German squad was
to win in Monaco and they might not get any other chances afterwards in the season.
However, that has turned out to be a wrong perception, as the Brackley based team has got the speed to win more races in 2013. They showed decent form during the previous round in Canada and it was clear that the tyre trouble they
had over the years was almost sorted out.
However, Silverstone is a fast flowing circuit and will definitely be harsh on tyres, so it will be interesting to see how things pan out for Mercedes. For Hamilton, it would be nice to secure his home race, which will also keep
him alive in the championship battle.
