Lewis Hamilton of McLaren says Red Bulls will be tough to beat – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren managed to finish at the 5th position at the Japanese Grand Prix.
He accepted that Red Bull Racing is performing convincingly over the circuit therefore it will require a lot of effort to beat them in the remainder of the 2012 season.
He told that he knows his position but he will never give up. They have managed to attain some impressive results over the circuit and he appreciated the performance of his teammate, Jenson Button, who finished the Japanese GP at the 4th position.
Hamilton said, “I'm quite a realistic person so I know my situation, but I'll never give up. We've had some strong results and Jenson did good job today and with better qualifying we would have had a better result. But the Red Bulls will be tough to beat.”
He added that he tried to get most out of his car but he believes that the response of his car was strange. He was struggling with understeer issues in the qualifying round and same happened during the race. He had anticipated that the issue might be resolve
with the wind factor but it did not. The issues resulted in dropping him for his position and he was lacking pace until he heard a thud which resolved the issues for him and he was later able to push hard.
“Then all of a sudden I had this thud on the rear on lap 20 or something and all of a sudden the car started turning and after that I was able to push. I don't know why that was but we'll try to find out why,” he added.
The McLaren driver further told that although Red Bull Racing is performing impressively and they are very strong currently, still he will not stop trying to perform impressively in the remainder of the season and will be trying to exhibit impressive driving.
Hamilton’s 5th position resulted in reducing the gap in the championship by 10 points as the championship leader, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, was unable to make it to the finish line due to a crash. Let’s see how he performs in the remainder of the season,
