Lewis Hamilton praises MP4-27 after Friday practice at Suzuka – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has praised his car MP4-27 after the free Friday practice of the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix held at Suzuka.
Hamilton set the second best time in both the practice sessions and seemed very comfortable behind the wheel of his car. Even though, he was extremely happy with the pace of his car. However, he expected a tough competition with Red Bull Racing as their
driver, Mark Webber topped the timesheets in FP2.
“I think this will be the best car I'll probably have for a while here,” Hamilton said. “It's definitely better here than it's ever been but it's still pretty close to Red Bulls particularly, but it feels awesome. The lap that I did felt pretty good, but
again it can always be better.”
“I hope it's even better than now. Today's been a stress-free day, it's just been really about focusing on the car, trying to really improve, making sure that we make right turns set-up wise; I love it. I love driving the car and there's nowhere else I'd
rather be,” he added.
Furthermore, he said that he is hoping to come up stronger in the remainder of the season. He also said that they are focussing to make some more improvements in their car’s pace so as to win this year’s championship title.
The British driver faced an unfortunate retirement in the Singapore GP due to a gearbox issue due to which he lost some crucial points in the championship fight. Nonetheless, he is not feeling disappointed over the result of the preceding race and is confidently
looking forward to show up stronger in the forthcoming races.
At present, he is standing at 4th place in the drivers’ rankings with 142 points. Besides, he is ahead of Webber and is behind his major rival, Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.
Though, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari is presently leading the drivers’ championship with a strong lead, nevertheless, the 27-year-old is feeling positive for the season ahead.
Let’s see whether the 2008 world champion will be able to close the gap to the Spaniard in the upcoming races or not.
