Lewis Hamilton rates Jenson Button as best teammate since his debut – Formula 1 news
The 2008 Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton has recently revealed that he rates Jenson Button as his best teammate since his debut.
Lewis made his debut in Formula 1 with McLaren back in 2007 and scored a podium position at the very first race he competed in. He teamed alongside Fernando Alonso back then but since both of the drivers did not have a very good relationship as teammates,
Fernando left the team the following year before joining Renault.
Hamilton teamed alongside Heikki Kovalainen for the next 2 years and secured the championship in 2008 during this time. In 2009, McLaren had a very disappointing season and after the season, Kovalainen was replaced by the 2009 Formula 1 world champion Jenson
Button for the 2010 Formula 1 season.
Lewis and Jenson have been teammates for more than a year now and both of them have been performing competitively for McLaren.
While talking about the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix and competitiveness, Hamilton stated that Button has been quite competitive alongside him which has been positive for the team.
“To be a good driver, it's not only about speed. It's about your presence in the team, the comments you make, your persona and your behaviour when you win and when you lose. Jenson is definitely the best overall package I've been up against,” said Hamilton.
McLaren are the only team that has the potential to compete against Red Bull Racing Team according to the current statistics and the 2008 Formula 1 champion is aiming for a victory at the upcoming race.
“I have to beat Red Bull. They have the best car. The last time I drove at Barcelona, during winter testing, the car had no grip. I've downforce now and I'll be more competitive in the race,” said the former world champion.
Hamilton is currently in 2nd place in the drivers’ standings as he is 34 points adrift of the leader Sebastian Vettel who is leading the pack with 93 points. Jenson Button on the other hand is in 4th place, 47 points behind Sebastian.
