Lewis Hamilton ready to backlash Jenson Button at the Brazilian GP
The McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton declares that he would love to see the Brazilian Grand Prix turn into a ‘British combat’. The racer thinks that he has not battled with many drivers this season. Now as he heads for the last and the final two races of the
2010 Formula One season, he is looking forward for some head-to-head fights with his close competitors.
Although Hamilton uttered that he would love to have a tough race with any of the top five drivers, yet he believes that the most enjoyable would be a dust-up with his teammate Jenson Button.
The only black driver of the series, Hamilton presently stands at 3rd place in the tally with his 210 points while his teammate Button is at 5th place with just 189 points. The last race in Korea had been a real poor one for the later
as he was only able to end at 12th place. This not only brought the driver pointless back home but also dimmed his hopes for earning a consecutive title win. Presently, Hamilton stands 21 points adrift the charts’ topper, Fernando Alonso, while
Vettel is 42 points adrift him.
With only two more races to go and just 50 points to play for, the chances of Vettel seem pretty poor now. As already said by many of the analysts and race gurus he is more or less out of the contention and only a miracle at this stage could lead him to
the second title of his career. However, the British driver as well as his team is insistent that the battle must go on and he would fight until the end of the rope.
Now, as the drivers head for the next race without having any orders from the team they are both equally free for the battle. Hamilton sees this situation a very interesting one and wants to have a throat cutting combat in Brazil.
The 30-year-old Button and the 25-year-old Hamilton enjoy a very healthy relation in the team and have stood by each other all through the season. However, once on the track the rivalry of the two is tough. While talking to the media this Thursday, Hamilton
said, "I've not had any battles with Jenson this year and we have been dying to have that battle… The world title is still very, very much open. Webber in his Red Bull lost 18 points to me and 25 to Fernando in the last race in Korea, so it just goes to show
what can happen. I was leading the world championship by 17 points with two races to go and I lost it, so it is possible. We have had some tough races and we could be in a much better position but we are not, that's just the way it is.”
Moreover, while talking about his old teammate and all-time rival, Fernando Alonso, the 2008 champion said, “Fernando's a two-time world champion and has the experience. He was champion when I was a rookie and it was great racing him. He's one of the toughest
competitors I've ever competed against. He's under pressure but we all are - we all want to win. He knows what it's like to be in this position.”
He further exclaimed once again, just like several times all through the season, that they do not have one of the fastest cars of the season. Yet, he believes that he has the most determined and ambitious team which can make him do wonders on the track.
Also, the McLaren chief Martin Whitmarsh, before heading for the race weekend confirmed once again that no team orders would be carried and both the drivers are being encouraged to try their best and win the race.
