Lewis Hamilton ready to meet with Ron Dennis in Abu Dhabi – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is finally going to meet the chairman of the British team, Ron Dennis in Abu Dhabi next week, after the confirmation of his move to Mercedes in 2013.
Hamilton’s agreement with the Woking based team is going to expire at the conclusion of this year and he has signed a new deal with the Silver Arrows for the coming season.
Moreover, he is going to replace the seven-time world champion, Michael Schumacher who has decided to take retirement from the sport after this season. Besides, Sergio Perez, who is currently in Sauber, is going to take the place of the British driver in
McLaren from the next year onwards.
The 27-year-old has a very good affiliation with Dennis who brought him in F1 after exploring his potential 14 years ago. Though, he said that he has not met with the Briton after the news of his contract with the Brackley based team. Nevertheless, at a
media event held in Delhi ahead of the Indian Grand Prix, he said that they will hopefully have a good chat in the coming week in Abu Dhabi.
“I haven't sat down and spoken to anyone just because we're still in the motion of the year,” Hamilton is quoted as saying in the Times. “It's not the end yet.”
“It's important now to try and keep the motivation up high, so when I went back I did the normal things that I do. But I spoke to Ron and we are planning to meet up. We will go for dinner, have a good chat,” the British driver added.
Furthermore, he insisted that although he is no more looking forward to win the world championship title after losing some crucial points in the last few races. Nonetheless, he said that he is still targeting to perform at his best in the remainder of the
season so as to be able to help his team in securing a competitive position in this year’s championship.
It will be interesting to see how the 2008 world champion performs in the remaining four grands prix of the ongoing season.
