Lewis Hamilton realises the pressure he will be taking going in to Valencia GP – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton says that the pressure on him will remain going into Valencia.
Hamilton topped the drivers’ standings after he won the Canadian Grand Prix in grand style taking the lead from Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso.
Hamilton said that the season has been very competitive and the lead is almost nothing and the pressure is definitely on him going into the Valencia GP.
Hamilton is only two points ahead of Alonso and followed by Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel only 3 points behind the leader.
Hamilton said he understands that the season requires consistency more than anything and that is what will make the biggest difference at the end of the season. That is why McLaren will be looking for another consistent performance at Valencia.
He said that predicting who will win in the races this season is extremely hard. Looking at the level of unpredictability and the record breaking seven different winners in the season just goes on to confirm that anyone has the chance to grab a win.
He added that still he will be going into the race confident and highly motivated to come up with a similar result he achieved in Canada.
Jenson Button has been struggling in the season after he won the Australian GP but it has not been his fault rather the team has somewhat let him down. Button is looking to get back in the title fight after the recent troubles he had.
Button said that Canada was just one of the weekends where things did not end like the team had planned. The Friday practice run was very important for him to get some track time as he had been struggling prior to the Canada GP but further technical issues
did not let that happen.
He said, “And I think that set the tone for the rest of the weekend: we lacked the data we needed to tackle the race and we struggled. Still, there were important lessons to be learned from those issues, and we addressed everything back at MTC once we'd
returned from Canada in a bid to get a clearer direction for Valencia next weekend. A day like that is enormously productive and I think we covered a lot of ground.”
It will be interesting to see how McLaren’s duo performs at Valencia.
