Lewis Hamilton regrets his fifth place finish 2012 Monaco Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has shown regret over his fifth place finish in 2012 Monaco Grand Prix held at Circuit de Monaco on May 27.
Hamilton set off from third place in the grid but he could not convert this competitive position into a podium finish in the race as he lost some crucial time in the pit stops and was overtaken by Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull
Racing.
Afterwards, he expressed disappointment that he could not perform at his best. However, he said that he feels contended as they have been able to secure some reasonable points at the end of the day. Moreover, he said that they should focus on making the
essential developments and the necessary preparations for the season ahead.
“It was frustrating and it wasn't the best job. But this is motor racing. I really dislike going backwards but nonetheless we still came away with some points and there are many, many races ahead of us so we have to try and keep our heads up and keep pushing,”
he said.
He added, “I don't know how long my pits top was but I lost quite a lot of time and I just wasn't able to keep up with Alonso and then Sebastian got me through his pit stop which made it virtually impossible to overtake.”
It will be important to mention that he has also struggled due to poor pit stops strategy in the fourth race in which he came 8th even after starting from second grid position.
Furthermore, he said that he had one of the worst starts in the Monaco GP. Nevertheless, he said that such issues often happen and he is now looking forward to perform well in the approaching races.
The 2008 world champion is presently standing on fourth place in drivers’ championship with 63 points. In addition, he is 4 points ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and 10 points behind Mark Webber of Red Bull.
Over and above, he has emerged as one of the most consistent drivers in this season as he secured impressive third podium finishes in the first three grands prix. Besides, he is aiming to deliver his best in the forthcoming races.
