Lewis Hamilton says, It is not over until it is over
Lewis Hamilton, the aggressive young lad is back in action sooner than expected. After having a very disappointing weekend in Singapore, the McLaren driver is once again ready to come back to the next round
of the season in full fighting spirit and confidence.
He is undoubtedly one of those people for whom one can safely say, “He could be destroyed but not defeated.” The 26 year old driver already holds the record of being the youngest Champion in Formula One’s
history. In the year 2008 he won his first championship at the age of 24. Only during the 4th year of his Formula One career, the chocolate skinned racer is striving for his second world Championship.
The tug for the title this year is tighter then seen in decades. Every year as the season takes its final twists and turns the battle shrinks between the top two drivers, however this year has seen five
men at the apex, all equally competent and none ready to give up.
The last Sunday in Singapore hit Hamilton with yet another blow as he packed up his race pointless, after colliding with Mark Webber of Red Bull, as the two battled for 3rd place. During the last
four races of the season this is his 3rd pointless finish, which is more than distressing for the driver at this point of the year when the championship is just at a distance of four races. (Or probably three as the fate of Korean track is yet not
certain)
The race prior to the Singapore Grand Prix also turned out to be equally unfortunate for the McLaren driver as he winded up the Italian Grand Prix only a few moments after it had begun. Now the second consecutive
retirement has pushed him down to third place in the Drivers’ Championship, creating a gap of 20 points from the charts’ leader, Mark Webber.
The driver is surely much concerned about his title now as the chances of victory, after the last two unfortunate finishes, do not seem to be as evident and bright as they were a few rounds back. Yet Hamilton
has not lost hopes nor has his team. The team boss, Martin Whitmarsh is not only confident himself but is also encouraging the cheerless driver at this gloomy moment. He ensured Hamilton that the Japanese Grand Prix is a great opportunity for them to bounce
back in the contention with all force and roar.
While talking to the media Whitmarsh exclaimed, “He will be bitterly disappointed after this race, but that will be out of his mind when he gets to Suzuka," He continued telling, “And if we give him a quick
car he can win that race. That is what he will focus on."
A similar comeback was witnessed by him after the Hungarian race where he ended pointless. However, he not only won the very next round in Belgium but also claimed his top position back from Webber. Now
Whitmarsh has expressed his firm belief in Hamilton proclaiming that he is capable of doing wonders on the track and can pull rabbits out of the hat when needed.
Instantly after the Singapore race on Sunday, the team principal went to Hamilton’s room to assure him that he must not ‘be too hard on himself’ for how things turned out on the track rather he should relax
and focus on next races.
While talking to the media, Whitmarsh accepted the fact that this is a very tough time for the driver as well as for the team. However, he believes that Hamilton is a tough man and a tougher competitor and
he will make a brave comeback.
Moreover, the team principal concluded his interview saying that, "We have to look at our performance, we have got to make our car quicker and develop our package to push as hard as we can, eliminate mistakes
and do the best job we can."
