Lewis Hamilton says Kimi Raikkonen would give Sebastian Vettel a hard time – Formula 1
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that if Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus joins Red Bull Racing after the 2013 Formula 1 season, he will give Sebastian Vettel a hard time.
Mark Webber of the Milton Keynes based team has recently announced that he will retire from F1 at the end of this year. Meanwhile, the team principal of Red Bull, Christian Horner has said that they are looking for some potential candidates to fill the vacancy
for the next year which makes Raikkonen one of the top most choices as his contract with the Enstone based team is going to end at the conclusion of this season.
Although, the Finn has not expressed anything about his future and nothing has been decided officially, Hamilton has said that it would be really interesting to see the 2007 world champion driving alongside Vettel. In addition, the Briton stated that the
Finnish driver will surely give the defending champion a tough time.
“It would be really cool to see Kimi in a Red Bull. He would give Seb a hard time,” 2008 world champion Hamilton is quoted by the Sun.
Besides, he said that the 33-year-old is a wonderful driver and it will be exciting to see him driving behind the wheel of one of the most competent cars.
“Kimi is an incredible driver, everyone knows that, so with an even better car it would be interesting to see what he does with that,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the British driver is struggling to match the pace with his new teammate, Nico Rosberg at the Silver Arrows. However, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari has said that he is not surprised by the pace of the German driver who completely
outclassed his compatriot, Michael Schumacher in the last several years.
“We saw him beat Michael [Schumacher] the last few years, and not because Michael had forgotten how to drive but because Nico did a fantastic job, and he’s getting even better,” the Spaniard told Sport Bild.
Let’s see how all the contenders perform in the season ahead and who takes the title this year.
