Lewis Hamilton says car problems hindered his performance in 2012 Japanese GP – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he could not perform well in the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix because he faced some problems in his car.
Hamilton could only secure 5th place finish after taking a start from 9th grid position. He thought that he had used a wrong setup for the race but afterwards his team discovered that the issue was in rear suspension of the car.
Even though, he was quite upset over the result of the preceding race. Nevertheless, he said that they have found the problem and will hopefully resolve it soon. Furthermore, he said that he is positively looking forward to perform well in the Korean GP
which is to be held at Korea International Circuit this weekend.
“I know my car really well and it's very rare that I get the setup wrong, and if I do it's only a little bit wrong and I can still live with it,” he said. “But this was worst I'd ever set it up and I was really shocked that I'd done that and I thought it
was my fault. But after race the guys did a lot of analysis and found we'd had failure on part at rear so that's comforting for me and it means I'm not crazy! So I'm happy we've found that and it won't be problem this weekend hopefully.”
At present, the 2008 world champion is standing at fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 152 points. Besides, he is ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing and is behind his major rival, Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.
Though, he is quite behind the leading driver, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull. Nonetheless, he is still been considered as one of the most competent title contenders in this year’s championship fight as
he has been one of the most consistent point scorers in the season until now.
It will be exciting to see how he performs in the remaining five grands prix and whether he will be able to win the championship title or not.
