Lewis Hamilton says he is focussing to win 2012 Formula 1 World Championship – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is not paying attention to the nonsense speculations about his future and insists that he is focussing to win the 2012 Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship.
Hamilton has been surrounded by many rumours about his future in the sport as his contract with the Woking based team is going to end at the conclusion of this season. However, the 2008 world champion has said that he has no time to think about the ongoing
speculations about him and is targeting to claim this year’s championship title.
Although, he said that he is into conversations regarding his future agreements, nonetheless, he expressed that he will not allow it to interfere with his performance in the upcoming races.
“I don't have a timeline. My focus is on trying to win this world championship,” Hamilton said. “Of course I do have to have those things sorted out but I do have people in background working on those contract negotiations. There's a lot of speculation,
there's a lot of stories that aren't true.”
In addition, he asserted that everything which comes in the reports is not true while he said that he is fully dedicated towards his team and is working at his best to win the championship title.
He also said that after a long time they have reached a position from where they can win the championship. Therefore, he said that he is not distracting by the rubbish going around.
“I've been with team since I was 13 and we've worked so hard since 2009 to try and win this championship and hopefully, finally, we're in position where we can. So the most important thing is that I do not get distracted by all rubbish that's been around,”
he added.
The British driver has performed tremendously well in the season so far and scored three grands prix victories. He has been deemed as the most competent contender in this season championship fight and it will be thrilling to see how he shows up in the Singapore
GP which is to be held at Marina Bay Street Circuit next weekend.
