Lewis Hamilton says he is happy with the latest updates to the McLaren car – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton has said that the McLaren’s recent developments have enabled himself to go that extra mile during the qualifiers of the Hungarian GP.
The updates showed the difference as Hamilton went on to take pole on Saturday. Hamilton’s teammate Jenson Button has also seems to pick up his pace with the introduction of the updates.
Button had been struggling for some time now but during the German Grand Prix was able to pick up the pace and finish at second place behind the winner Fernando Alonso. He came in fourth at the qualifiers.
Both McLarens have been able to finish in the top five which is a good sign for the team and it provides an even better opportunity to score some vital points to place a stronger hold on the third place in the constructors’ championship.
The Lotus cars have looked good as well and they will give a stiff challenge to the McLarens or front runners for that matter at Budapest. Sebastian Vettel in the Red Bull is at third and is also going to be a tough rock to move at the race as he will want
to close the gap on the leading driver of the season Fernando Alonso as much as he can.
“It's been a really positive weekend so far,” he said. “The guys have done a really good job as always preparing the car and to finally see the upgrades working this weekend allowed me to put the car in places I wasn't previously able to do. Generally every
lap has been quite good in practice and qualifying apart from the first lap in Q3.”
He added that he had done his long run yesterday and it did not look like he was not doing too badly. The green track may have helped a bit but overall it was a good run. Button was quite happy with his run as well.
“This is motor racing, we're not saying we're relaxed about it because we've got a lot of work to do and we're trying to make sure we start that work this weekend,” he added.
