Lewis Hamilton says he is satisfied by Pirelli changes ahead of 2013 German GP – Formula 1 News
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is feeling satisfied with the changes made by Pirelli ahead of the 2013 German Grand Prix after facing a tyre explosion issue in Silverstone.
Hamilton performed incredibly well in the qualifying of the British GP and successfully secured his second pole position of the season. Later, on the race day, he took an impressive start, but failed to maintain his lead as his
rear left tyre was punctured. Resultantly, he had to take a pit stop to get the issue fixed and lost some crucial time. Nevertheless, he still managed to secure fourth place finish and efficiently limited the damage for his team. On the other hand, his teammate,
Nico Rosberg scored an inspiring victory after taking a start from second grid position.
Although, he criticised the Pirelli compound tyres a lot after the race, he has expressed satisfaction over the changes which the Italian company has made before the next race. In addition, he said that everyone in the sport struggled
because of the tyre problems. Nonetheless, he stated that is feeling pleased after seeing Pirelli’s response over the issue.
“I am satisfied, but only when we get there (Germany) will we have a better idea how it is for us,” Hamilton said. “Everyone is in the same boat, but I'm glad action has been taken. It's still a concern. We'll see how the weekend
goes but I'm sure they've taken the right steps to make it safe.”
Meanwhile, Rosberg also stated that he is confident about the decisions which have been taken by Pirelli before the forthcoming race in order to ensure the safety of drivers in the sport. Besides, he said that he is excitedly looking
forward to perform well in the next race.
“I'm confident the right decisions will be taken because safety is a very important factor,” Rosberg said. “I think they (Pirelli) will have everything under control for the Nurburgring, which will be good.”
“I'm very excited to drive again because our car is so good at the moment,” he added.
It will be interesting to see how the German and Briton perform at Nurburgring this weekend.
