Lewis Hamilton says he needs to focus on his own performance – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he needs to focus on his own performance instead of thinking about their off-track problems with the FIA over the Pirelli test.
Several teams have raised issue before the FIA against the test which the Italian tyre company conducted with the Silver Arrows before the Monaco GP. However, Hamilton has expressed that he is not concerned with any allegations and is focussing to improve
his pace after struggling during the last weekend.
The British driver performed incredibly well in the qualifying at Circuit de Monaco and managed to secure second grid slot for the race behind his teammate, Nico Rosberg who secured his third consecutive pole position of the season. But, he lost his position
to Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing as he went to pit during the safety car incident and could only secure 4th place finish.
After the preceding race, he has asserted that he is not quick enough as compared to his rivals. He also said that they need to work hard to improve their performance. Besides, he insisted that he is currently focussing on himself and is trying to get his
act together in order to attain competitive results with consistency in the season ahead.
“I just wasn't good enough over the weekend,” said Hamilton. “I've lots to sort out on my side of the garage, and within myself, and I'll take time to do that.”
“At the moment I'm not quick enough, not on it enough, so I need to get on it,” he added.
“We were required to do some work, we did some work, it was good fun,” he said. “Right now I'm not concerned about it, that's for the team to worry about. I just have to focus on myself and try and get my act together.”
Currently, the 2008 world champion is standing at 4th place in the drivers’ championship with 62 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Webber and behind his main opponent, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. It will be exciting to see how he performs in the upcoming
races and whether he will be able to come up to his own expectations or not.
