Lewis Hamilton says he wants to be the best driver of his generation – Formula 1 update
Formula 1 McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he wants to be the best F1 driver of his generation.
He also mentioned said in order to prove himself as a successful driver, more wins are necessary.
Hamilton has been driving in Formula 1 sport from four years. However, he said he knows people cannot say right now, that he is best one in the world because he did not spend more years into the sport so he has more to do, in his profession.
With regards to his pre-season test progress, Hamilton made an impressive run with his team-mate Jenson Button, over the Valencia test session while the Jerez test proved bad for the team, as the drivers were busy learning the different setups of the MP4-26
car.
The four-day Barcelona test was better than the last one and Hamilton put all his efforts on the McLaren’s upgraded package and posted the best scores, on the time-sheets. The team also joined the final Barcelona test in Spain, where they completed their
testing with soft and hard compounds of Pirelli rubber.
Recently, Hamilton has signed a two year contract with McLaren, meanwhile Red Bull boss, Christian Horner admitted that Hamilton is a great driver and that he is probably the best driver in Formula 1.
A few days ago, there were some rumours about the Hamilton career with McLaren, so Horner stated that it was his own choice, whether he continues his career with McLaren or not.
He said, “For somebody so young, to be in control of his own destiny in the manner that he has been, is very refreshing. He doesn't have a big management group or organisation telling him what to do and when to do it. He makes his own decisions.”
On the other hand, Hamilton announced his new partnership with Simon Fuller, who is the one of the most powerful sports agent in the world.
Hamilton said, “It was important I took my time to make this decision as it had to be right for my career and my long-term future. I spoke to many interested companies in recent months, but I felt Simon and his team not only wanted to help me become an even
better racing driver, but they also shared my ambitions for the longer term.”
As the teams’ overall performance was bad over the test sessions, it seems improbable that Hamilton will be able to finish on the podium, at the end of 2011 season.
