Lewis Hamilton says it will go down to the wire

McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton, who currently leads the driver standings in Formula one, says that the title race may not be over, despite him and Webber making ground at the top of leader board.
Lewis Hamilton won the Belgian Grand Prix this Sunday and regained the top spot on the leader board. Hamilton is now 3 points clear of Red Bull’s Mark Webber. The 2nd driver from the Austrian team is Sebastian Vettel who is behind Webber and trailing Hamilton by 31 points.
Hamilton’s team mate Jenson Button is 35 points adrift from the top, and Fernando Alonso further back trailing by 41 points.
The 2008 F1 champion Hamilton said that the championship is wide open, and there is still time for anyone to take the title. He added that off course the aim of the team is to retain the top spot for the next 6 races, and of course will do all they can to keep hold of it. But realistically it is up for grabs and it is not done and dusted by any means.
Lewis Hamilton was at his best after returning from an F1 summer break. The Brit drove brilliantly in testing conditions at Belgium circuit and once again took the lead in the driver championships. The races following up to the break had not been the best for McLaren and Hamilton. Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton had been falling behind their competitors Ferrari and Red Bull as far as out and outpace was concerned. But during the break McLaren worked extra hard on the development of the car and the much needed upgrades. The results do look promising and it does look like they are close to being at par with their competitors.
Sebastian Vettel and Jenson Button who are in 3rd and 4th spot respectively will have to catch on quick if they are to compete their team mates for the world title. With Vettel on 3rd, Button on 4th and Fernando Alonso on 5th in the table, all failed to win a single point at the last Grand Prix. That is the reason Hamilton and Webber have taken such a big lead over the trio.
Lewis Hamilton however said that, 6 races are to go before the season ends and it is still anybody’s game. He said that all he needs to do is keep his focus and not let any shortcomings of the car hamper his progress. He said that in the last few races it had been clear that things can change over a weekend, so he and his team need to be on their game right throughout the last 6 races. Hamilton said that there are no less than 5 drivers fighting for the title, and as far as he is concerned all 5 can still win it so there is just no room to let the guard down at any point.
Hamilton’s win at the Le Mans circuit was the 14th of his career, and he did have to work hard to get it. His car slipped off the track in heavy rain and he had to control the car and get back without losing his top spot,  before that he showed immense grip and control when he maneuvered past Webber to get the first place. Mark Webber after the race also said that Hamilton is the man to beat now, he has excellent control, ability and maturity beyond his age.
Webber said that before the race if someone bets on Hamilton, he will probably think that it is the safest bet and a competition like that is always great to heat up the title race.
