Lewis Hamilton says loyalty has limits
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has recently warned his team that there is a limit to “loyalty” and that he will not compromise more if the team fails to continue to challenge for championships in the near future.
Red Bull Racing Team issued a statement a couple of weeks ago that the team discussed the 2008 Formula 1 champion, as a potential contender for the team’s driving seat for next year. After which Hamilton has stated a handful of times that he is happy and
committed with McLaren.
However, the young Englishmen did not rule out his chances of going to Red Bull next year as Hamilton clearly stated that his loyalty to McLaren does not mean that he does not consider a move elsewhere in the future.
“I have got only a short period in Formula One and I want to be competitive. I want to win championships. If you're in a good enough place and you're happy then there's no need to go anywhere. I've always enjoyed racing here and would like to continue but
at the end of the year you have to assess what position you're in and what's happened”, said Hamilton.
Hamilton added that he believes that loyalty has its limits and if a driver gets a better option, then he should consider it seriously.
“I don't really envisage anything to be honest. I envisage myself winning world championships and doing whatever I need to do to win world championships”, Lewis added.
Other than that, Lewis revealed that he is not sure whether he is willing to drive for one team throughout his career, as McLaren was his first and only team in the sport up until now.
This is the same team, which enabled him to win the title back in 2008, but back then the team boss of McLaren was not Martin Whitmarsh, it was Ron Dennis, the same boss that enabled Mika Hakkinen, Ayrton Senna and even Alain Prost in giving their best performances
to date.
