Lewis Hamilton sees great potential in Mercedes – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton says that he has decided to join Mercedes in the 2013 Formula 1 season as he sees great potential in the Silver Arrows.
Hamilton’s agreement with McLaren is going to end at the conclusion of this year and he has planned to move to the Brackley based team in the coming year. Moreover, he is going to replace the legendary driver, Michael Schumacher who has taken retirement
from F1 and will drive alongside Nico Rosberg in the next season.
It will be important to note that Mercedes faced many technical problems in this year due to which both the German drivers struggled a lot and failed to attain good results for their team. Furthermore, there are strong chances that the same issues may persist
in the next season too which can create difficulties for the Briton.
However, the 2008 world champion has expressed that he is positively looking forward to the new challenge and has full faith in his decision. In addition, he said that he is moving to Mercedes as they have surely got some amazing potential.
“I think it's far too early to say because I've never even driven the car,” Hamilton told Sky Sports News. “It looks like in Brazil Mercedes were 1.1 seconds behind so we've got a long, long, steep hill to climb. But I don't think that's impossible, I think
the guys have great, great potential and that's why I'm going there.”
Besides, he said that it will take around half a year to have his impact on the development process of the next year’s car. Nonetheless, he asserted that he is not feeling upset and is confidently aiming to attain promising results for his new team.
“I don't see it as a short-term thing. Firstly I don't get in to the car until February so I won't really be able to have a big enough impact until at least six months down the line,” the British driver added.
Additionally, he said that he is targeting to take Mercedes to new heights and will try to deliver his best in the coming season.
