Lewis Hamilton sets pace in FP2 of 2012 Italian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has topped the timesheets in the second free Friday practice session of the 2012 Italian Grand Prix held at Autodromo di Monza.
Hamilton set the best time of 1 minute and 25.290 seconds and covered 32 laps. Moreover, he remained ahead of his teammate, Jenson Button who completed 35 laps. Both the McLaren drivers successfully gathered the essential information about their cars which
will definitely provide help in making the further step ups.
Button was followed by Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who only covered 17 laps and stayed ahead of Felipe Massa who had quite a busy session as the Brazilian driver ran for 43 laps.
Nico Rosberg of Mercedes set the 5th best time and remained ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus. Furthermore, the Finnish driver stood ahead of Paul di Resta and Nico Hulkenberg of Force India.
Sergio Perez of Sauber came 9th in the timesheets and was followed by the record championship holder, Michael Schumacher of Mercedes who set the pace during the first session.
The veteran German driver stayed ahead of Red Bull Racing driver, Mark Webber who was further followed by Jerome d’Ambrosio of Lotus.
Webber’s teammate, Sebastian Vettel came 13th in the charts and remained ahead of Pastor Maldonado of Williams. Additionally, the Venezuelan driver was followed by Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso.
Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber stood at 16th position in the timesheets and stayed ahead of Bruno Senna of Williams. The Brazilian driver was followed by Heikki Kovalainen of Caterham who remained ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne of Toro Rosso.
Vitaly Petrov of Caterham came 20th in the charts and was followed by Marussia pair of drivers, Timo Glock and Charles Pic who were further followed by HRT drivers, Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan.
All the contenders remained busy in collecting the necessary data about their cars during FP2 as the conditions were highly favourable for running. Now, it will be exciting to see how they all show up in the third practice and the qualifying.
Above and beyond, let’s see how all the teams perform on the race day on a track which demands lower-downforce configuration.
