Lewis Hamilton snatches top spot from Mark Webber at 3rd free practice session in Malaysia
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton finally got what he was striving for since the past two days as he scored the fastest time of the final free practice session in Malaysia.
Red Bull Racing Team’s Mark Webber had dominated the track as he scored the fastest times of the first 2 free practice sessions but the time difference between McLaren and Red Bull was not much.
Mark had an advantage of just 1.5 tenths of a second over Lewis Hamilton, who scored the third fastest time according to the timesheets of the second free practice session.
However, Lewis scored his fastest lap almost 3 tenths of a second faster than the Australian’s time with just a couple of hours remaining before the qualifying session of the Malaysian Grand Prix.
Hamilton’s teammate, Jenson Button scored the 3rd fastest lap of the session and it seems that McLaren is now looking stronger than Red Bull in terms of time as Jenson’s time was just around a tenth short of Mark’s time.
On the other hand, Sebastian Vettel struggled once again in terms of time as he finished in 5th place in the timesheets behind Nick Heidfeld’s Renault in 4th place surprisingly. Sebastian had to encounter a lot of traffic but he got
a couple of clear runs as well. Either way, he was more than 8 tenths off the fastest time of the session.
Ferrari is still off the pace and it seems that they are struggling vitally up until now since Fernando Alonso scored the 6th fastest time of the session while his teammate Felipe Massa scored the 8th fastest time of the session.
Other than that, Mercedes GP is not looking so good either as Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg finished in 10th and 11th places, respectively, according to the timesheets of the final free practice session.
However, Lotus Renault GP’s, Vitaly Petrov, scored the 8th fastest time of the session and it seems that they are pretty strong once again this weekend.
The qualifying session is going to be important for the top running teams and in order to win the race the teams would have to ensure a good place on the grid.
