Lewis Hamilton stumped at his failure to perform, cites issues unknown to him – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton says he has no clue to his lack of form and thinks that the car was fantastically quick but he himself was not fast enough.
The 2008 Formula 1 world champion seemed nothing like the confident Hamilton in the 2011 season we are accustomed to. The Japanese Grand Prix has had its effect on the Brit and he was short of words in trying to explain why his form has dipped.
He missed out on pole position because of finishing the Q3 too early and then his troubles with Felipe Massa have not helped either, when he got into another run in with him at Suzuka. Although he was not penalised for the incident, but Hamilton has been
meeting the race stewards more than he would like to for some time now.
There were talks of Grand Prix Drivers Association discussing his on-track behaviour in one of their meetings. Stewards have been summoning Hamilton too often and he has not been able to do anything significant on the track for some time now.
At Suzuka though Hamilton could have blamed the puncture for his loss, but instead he said there was nothing wrong with the car or the conditions and it was him who has just not been performing well.
The 26-year-old tried to explain his woes and said, “We’ve got far bigger problems than that to worry about the championship. I think you’re all trying to come out solutions as to why I’m not going well, but there is no solution, there is no answer to it,”
he said.
“I don’t know what the answer is, so I’d appreciate it if you didn’t just jump to conclusions because I don’t know what the answer is,” Hamilton added.
Lewis still has four more races to go for the season, and at the moment he is behind his teammate Jenson Button on points, which is the first time that has happened since 2007. It would be interesting to see how Lewis copes with his apparent psychological
issues to be the same force on track that we have been accustomed to.
