Lewis Hamilton takes an incredible victory in 2012 Italian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has won the 2012 Italian Grand Prix after dominating throughout the weekend in Monza while his teammate, Jenson Button was retired due to fuel system failure.
Hamilton set the fastest lap time in the second and third free practice sessions at Autodromo di Monza and secured an impressive pole position after delivering an amazing qualifying performance. Later on, he prevailed throughout the race after maintaining
his lead and successfully claimed his third win of the current season.
The 2008 world champion was followed by Sergio Perez of Sauber who showed an inspiring pace and secured second podium finish after coming right from the 12th grid slot.
Moreover, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari performed exceptionally well and secured a striking third podium finish after taking a start from 10th grid position. Although, the Spaniard faced a technical issue in his car during the final session of the
qualifying, however, he gave a promising performance in the race and provided the Scarlet team’s fans a moment to cheer.
Alonso’s teammate, Felipe Massa also showed an incredible pace as he came fourth in the race after setting off from the third grid place. The Brazilian driver stayed ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus who secured fifth place finish after starting from 7th
grid position.
Michael Schumacher of Mercedes delivered a superb performance as he came 6th after qualifying for 4th grid slot. Even though, the seven-time world champion struggled with the issue of tyre degradation, nonetheless, he managed to minimise
the damage for his team.
Schumacher’s teammate, Nico Rosberg secured 7th place finish and remained ahead of Paul di Resta of Force India who was further followed by Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber.
Bruno Senna of Williams came 10th and was followed by his teammate, Pastor Maldonado. Furthermore, Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso could not score any points as he came 12th and stayed ahead of Jerome d’Ambrosio of Lotus who replaced
Romain Grosjean for this race.
Caterham drivers, Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov came 14th and 15th in the charts and were followed by Marussia pair of drivers, Charles Pic and Timo Glock. Additionally, HRT drivers, Pedro de la Rosa and Narain Karthikeyan again
remained pointless.
It will be important to mention that Red Bull Racing drivers, Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel could not score even a single point as the Aussie spun during the 51st lap and moved back to the pits while the veteran German driver’s alternator was
failed which was an immense disappointment for the defending champions.
