Lewis Hamilton takes pole for the Hungarian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton took pole position at the qualifiers of the Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday.
It was quite a run for all the teams, and McLaren did well to show that they are still in the bid for the titles as both Hamilton and Jenson Button did well to finish in the top five for the race on Sunday. Button finished fourth in the qualifiers. Although
Button looked to be struggling for some time now but he has looked much better since the German Grand Prix where he finished second in the race.
Romain Grosjean was looking to take the pole position but Hamilton did was clearly the quickest. The Lotus however as earlier mentioned by Grosjean was going to benefit from the track and it showed as the Lotus cars also finished in the top five with Kimi
Raikkonen finishing fifth.
Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso the leader of the current season at the moment finished sixth and will be looking to score some points in the race to defend his positions as much as he can.
Felipe Massa followed Alonso and will be looking to improve on this start as much as he can on race day.
Pastor Maldonado driving the Williams was able to finish in the top ten which is another good result for the Venezuelan as he continues to throw hot and cold air. He will need to come up with consistent performances to be recognised a good driver.
Maldonado’s teammate Bruno Senna followed him and finish with the 9th best time of the day. Nico Hulkenberg driving the Force India car was able to make the top ten cut at 10th.
Surprising omissions from the top ten list were Red Bull driver Mark Webber, The Mercedes drivers, Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg.
Schumacher admitted that Mercedes upward trend has stopped and they are struggling at the moment with the pace of the car.
It will be another interesting race at Hungaroring before the month long summer break.
