Lewis Hamilton targets Monaco Grand Prix to improve his standing in the season – Formula 1
Lewis Hamilton is targeting Monaco Grand Prix to secure some more solid points.
Hamilton is looking for consistency in the current season and is in contention for the drivers’ championship title. At the moment Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso are tied at the top with Hamilton placed a close second.
The season has so far been very open and no one driver or team can be tagged as favourites. The gap between drivers and teams is very tight and it has made the season very exciting.
Hamilton did not have a good 2011 season and struggled at Monaco last year as well. This year however he wants to make amend s and improve on his last year showing and move ahead in the rankings as well.
Jenson Button has not been able to perform as well as he would have liked after his Australian Grand Prix victory and with Hamilton gunning for a better ranking than his team-mate prior to the season he will be looking to widening that gap between him and
his team mate.
“It's important not to lose sight of the fact that, despite pushing for the win, consistency and scoring decent points is currently the most sensible way to tackle this world championship,” Hamilton said. “I've scored points at every race, and I'm only eight
points off the lead of the championship. That's a really encouraging statistic and it's reassuring to see my approach is paying off.”
“Nevertheless, I'm coming off the back of two relatively disappointing results and there would be no better place for the cards to fall in my favor than at Monaco,” he added.
Hamilton did admit that the last two races have not been relatively good and he will be looking to change that at Monaco. He also mentioned that the McLaren car is not suited to the tighter confines of the Monaco track yet he is optimistic of keeping the
balance of the car to remain effective.
It will be interesting to see how McLaren fare at the Monaco circuit with the competition getting fiercer with each passing race it will be imperative to make the most of the race.
