Lewis Hamilton thinks he was knocked unconscious after 2011 Belgian Grand Prix crash – Formula 1
According to a recent statement, Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he might have been knocked out after the 2011 Belgian Grand Prix crash.
The television replays also showed that Hamilton did not move at least for 15 seconds after his collision with the sidewall of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
“I don't really remember much from hitting the wall. It's possible I was out for a couple of seconds, I'm not really sure,” he said.
This was a major blow to the young Brit’s championship run in 2011 as well as he is now pretty much out of the championship. He is now more than 100 points adrift of Sebastian Vettel who is dominantly leading the 2011 drivers’ standings.
Despite the fact that he is still in the championship mathematically, his chances of winning this year are very bleak. He needs to pull off a handful of miracles in order to win the title and hope that Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull also fails to score on
a number of occasions in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season.
“I don't read them, but I hear there are pretty bad stories written about me, so I am thinking it will be good to give you guys something good to write about me. I guess I'm an easy target at the moment because I'm always in trouble,” said Hamilton.
The McLaren driver has been criticised highly for his aggressive driving style but many claim that his style is not as aggressive as it seems.
Mark Webber and Jenson Button defended the former world champion saying that this is just how he is and will remain this way in the future as well.
It is quite disappointing for his team though as they expect him to score good results consistently on almost each occasion. However, when he fails to do so, that is a situation when the team faces a major statistical blow and loses a lot of ground.
