Lewis Hamilton thinks that beating Sebastian Vettel will be a challenge – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren admits that overtaking Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel will be a challenge in the Indian Grand Prix this weekend at Greater Noida.
Before the Korean Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari was leading the drivers’ championship which has been the case for most of the season. However, Vettel snatched his third consecutive race win of the season in Korea and overtook Alonso by six points.
He is now looking to achieve his fourth win with the Indian GP and trying to confirm his success in winning the title this year too.
Hamilton, after having to face bad luck at the Korean GP due to a car failure had his dream to win the title shattered, thinks that it will be quite difficult to beat Vettel in the race and Alonso should not be underestimated either. Despite the car failure
during the Korean GP, the driver had not given up and finished tenth earning a single point for McLaren. He intends to do similarly this Sunday.
“I will try best to secure as much points for McLaren and will also try to win the championship this year. I know I am on fourth in the drivers standing and it’s quite difficult but will not leave a single stone unturned in the remaining four races of the
season,” Hamilton said.
With everyone speculating about Vettel’s championship streak to continue this year also, Hamilton agrees that the driver has been indeed very lucky and dominating which might help him carry on with his streak.
Hamilton has decided to quit McLaren and transfer to Mercedes from next season replacing retiring driver Michael Schumacher. While he is very thankful to McLaren for all the support they have given him, he is very pleased with his decision.
“Schumacher has done more than any driver in the world. I have seen him winning those championships sitting in my home. To jump to his seat is a real privilege,” he said.
He regrets that he had been retiring from many races this year which might have destroyed his chances at the title despite having a good beginning to the season.
