Lewis Hamilton tops Free Practice 1 for Indian GP at Buddh International Circuit – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton topped the Friday Free Practice 1 for the Indian Grand Prix at the newly constructed Buddh International Circuit on October 28, 2011.
All the teams participated in the FP1 of the Indian Grand Prix for the first time. The drivers used the sets of hard and soft tyres by Pirelli during the morning Practice session. Moreover, most of the drivers tested new updates in their respective cars
by running at the Buddh International Circuit.
Red Bull Racing drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber were moving towards the end of practice session with first and second positions respectively, but in the last moments, Hamilton snatched the first place from Vettel and topped FP1 in the end.
The Brit set the fastest time of 1 minute and 26.836 seconds in the morning session and after battling it out with their rivals in the closing time of session, he ended his run ahead of Vettel.
The German ended up in the second spot, while the teammate Webber set the third fastest time in FP1 with a gap of 0.592 seconds from Hamilton.
McLaren’s other driver Jenson Button came at the fourth position in the final FP1 classifications.
Mercedes GP drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg finished their FP1 at the fifth and sixth positions respectively after running on the sets of hard and soft compounds.
Ferrari driver Felipe Massa ended up in the seventh spot ahead of Force India driver Adrian Sutil, who finished his morning session at the eighth position.
Massa’s teammate Fernando Alonso finished only 4 laps in FP1 and ended his session at the back of the field.
On the ninth position was Sebastien Buemi of Toro Rosso, who had a gap of 2.383 seconds behind Hamilton in the end.
Sauber driver Kamui Kobayashi successfully finished his FP1 in the top ten positions. After trying his best, he ended up in the tenth position behind Buemi in the final FP1 classifications.
Hispania Racing Team drivers Narain Karthikeyan and Daniel Ricciardo were unable to finish the FP1 in a decent manner at the Buddh International Circuit.
Let’s see whether Hamilton maintains his position in FP2 of the Indian Grand Prix in the afternoon session.
