Lewis Hamilton tops timesheets of second Free Practice session of 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton is at it again as he topped the timesheets of the second free practice session of the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix as well.
The former world champion topped the timesheets for the first practice session earlier on and McLaren have proved that they are consistent and fast this weekend.
Hamilton scored a 1:21.018 ahead of Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso who finished in 2nd place in the timesheets of the session. Alonso’s fastest time was just around 2 tenths of a second short of the fastest time of the session and it seems that both
McLaren and Ferrari are looking very fast at the Hungaroring.
Jenson Button on the other hand scored the 3rd fastest time of the session and was followed by Red Bull Racing team’s Mark Webber as the 4th fastest driver of the session. RBR are struggling to cope up with Ferrari and McLaren’s pace
up until now as they struggled to defeat them during both of the Friday practice sessions.
Sebastian Vettel scored the 5th place in the timesheets and was around 5 tenths of a second short of Lewis Hamilton’s fastest lap time. Felipe Massa scored the 6th fastest lap time of the session while Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher
secured the 7th and 8th places in the timesheets respectively for Mercedes GP.
Other than that, Force India proved to be quite competitive as well during the second free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix as Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil finished in 9th and 10th places respectively.
Lotus Renault GP struggled to perform at its best once again though as Nick Heidfeld secured the 14th fastest time of the session while Vitaly Petrov was the 17th fastest driver of the session.
Nevertheless, the qualifying session of the Hungarian Grand Prix is going to be very close for the top running teams including Ferrari, McLaren and RBR. If Red Bull do not secure the pole position this weekend, winning the race will not be easy for them
on Sunday.
