Lewis Hamilton upbeat about chances in 2011
Lewis Hamilton is confident about his chances in the upcoming Formula One season. The British driver said that he would go for the title this year and would give his opponents a tough fight.
Hamilton expressed his feelings at the launch of McLaren’s car for the 2011 season in Germany. The former champion hoped that the new car would be strong enough for him to win the title.
He said, “I've spared nothing during my winter fitness preparations and, in many ways, I feel as fit, focused and refreshed as I did ahead of my first season in Formula One in 2007.”
Hamilton ended-up fourth last season but said that 2010 had been a closely fought season. He also said that he would like the next season to be just as competitive as the 2010 season but ideally with a McLaren driver on top.
The McLaren driver said that he has been working hard with the engineers and designers to develop a strong car and hasn’t been disappointed with what has been achieved until now.
The British driver said, “This will be my fifth season in Formula One. So my aim for this year is to ensure that everything comes together in the best possible way and that, like last year, I'm able to fight for the title right down to the final race.”
Hamilton also wished a strong season for his team-mate Jenson Button and said that it would be difficult to predict who ends-up at the top next season.
On the other hand, Jenson Button was also confident about his chances with McLaren. He said that he had gelled with the team nicely and felt that he had been with McLaren for a very long time.
Button claimed that Pirelli tyres would be ideal for him as they support his driving style. He said that Pirelli tyres would give him a competitive advantage and he was very excited about driving the new McLaren.
McLaren is considered to be amongst the front-runners in 2011. Other teams such as Red Bull and Ferrari will also be looking forward to the next season and the fans can expect an exciting year of racing ahead.
